Arrests

The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has reported the following arrests:

• On March 6, Abby Leigh Wilmoth, 33, of N.C. 268 in Elkin, was arrested and charged with four counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny and one count of conspiracy to break and enter to commit larceny. She was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.

• On March 9, Matthew Lee Bennett, 17, of Matthew Circle in Pilot Mountain, was arrested and charged with two counts of larceny and two counts of the possession of stolen property. He was released from the Surry County Jail under a written promise to appear in court.

• On March 11, Shaquinton Theron Bell, 18, of Mid Lane in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with one count of assault inflicting serious injury. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

• On March 11, Matthew Ryan Henderson Owens, 22, of South Main Street in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with the larceny of a motor vehicle. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

• On March 11, Jackson Del Simpson, 19, of Copeland School Road in Dobson, was arrested and charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property under false pretenses. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

Incidents

The following incidents are under investigation by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office:

• On March 8, Fleta Bryant Myers, 88, of Dan Bryant Road in Pilot Mountain, reported the theft of an unknown amount of oil from her storage drum. Police say the value of the oil taken has not been determined.

• On March 8, Jerry Lee Shelton, 48, of Rolling Springs Road in Elkin, reported the theft of silver coins from a mailbox located at 171 Rolling Springs Road. The items taken were valued at about $30.

• On March 8, Telisa Jo Speer, 32, of Steve Jones Lane in Lowgap, reported the breaking and entering of her home and the theft of cash and clothing. The items taken had a listed value of $235.

• On March 9, Ronald Gray Easter, 66, of South Franklin Road in Mount Airy, reported the theft of a piece of farm equipment from his property. The equipment has a listed value of $1,000.

• On March 9, Linda Jessup Sawyers, 54, of Old Highway 601 in Mount Airy, reported a prowler at her residence.

• On March 9, Jacob Michael Tate, 22, of Capital Lane in Mount Airy, reported the larceny of a Yamaha scooter valued at $400.

• On March 10, Roy Eugene Smith, 70, of Mangas Lane in Dobson, reported that someone rolled his property with toilet paper.
