MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Maude Elizabeth “Libby” Tate Pallinder, 86, of 1297 Galax Trail, Mount Airy, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 5, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Pallinder was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Earl Richard and Ida Myrtle Brown Tate. Libby worked as a retail associate at Belk in Greensboro for several years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and also attended Hills Grove Baptist Church with her late husband, George Edward Pallinder Jr. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila and Syd Parris of Montreal, Canada, Pam Smith of Mount Airy, and Debbie Pallinder of Stuart, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, André and Teresa Maisonneuve of Brown Summit; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mildred Tate of Mount Airy; and a brother-in-law, Winfred Goins of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pallinder was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Pallinder Jr.; two sisters, Helen Goins and Frances Grogan; and two brothers, Thomas Tate and Joseph Tate. The family will greet friends and family on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A private inurnment will be held for the immediate family at Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
