LAMBSBURG, Va. — Mrs. Betty “Bet” Jane Surratt Leftwich, 77, of Lambsburg, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Leftwich was born in Carter County, Tenn., on Oct. 7, 1935, to Dick and Mary White Surratt. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her son, Johnny. Mrs. Leftwich was a strong independent woman who worked hard at any task that confronted her. She also enjoyed growing and nurturing her flower gardens. Surviving are sisters, Alice Dellenback of Ararat and Ethel Amburn of Mount Airy; a brother, David Surratt also of Mount Airy; very special nieces who cared for her, Julie Johnson, Melissa Carter, Tracy Webster and Jenua Nester; and a special great-nephew, Ethen Carter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leftwich was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Leftwich; and brothers, Johnny Surratt, Pat Surratt, Sam Surratt and Hayze Surratt.
