MCCONNELL

WINSTON-SALEM — Mrs. Nancy Kirkman McConnell, 80, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at North Carolina Baptist Health. She was born in January 1933 in Surry County to Charles Buford Kirkman and Alma Jane Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael Kiger. Surviving are her husband, James McConnell; son, Randy Kiger and wife Donna; stepdaughter, Lisa McConnell; stepson, Bain McConnell and wife Carol; four grandchildren, Michelle Speagle, Tyler Kiger, Brian McConnell and Thomas McConnell; a great-grandson, Charlie Speagle; and brother-in-law, Bobby McConnell and wife Mary Elizabeth. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee H. Strange officiating. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3819 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
