To all of the local people who have served in leadership capacities in local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts over the decades. Many young people have grown up in the area and gone on to successful careers, assuming leadership positions in the community, using lessons they learned in scouting, and it would not have happened without adults volunteering their time and talent.

To the Mount Airy Board of Commissioners for taking the first step toward eliminating the expensive, and nearly pointless, primary-style elections.

To the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History for its Black History Month programs. The museum is known for putting on interesting, relevant programming, but seldom does the programming reach such a level of importance as it does during February, when we celebrate how far we’ve come as a society — and also take a look at how far we have yet to go.
