MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Brenda Ann Hooker Cecil, 68, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Cecil was born in Surry County on June 16, 1944, to George Alex and Eva Mae McCreary Hooker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Connie Cecil and Tim and Doris Cecil, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Michea Cecil, Amanda Cecil, Cody Cecil and Tia Cecil; a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Ewuel Hodges of Mount Airy; and a very special friend, Joyce Hutchens. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cecil was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. Cecil; and a sister, Joyce Holt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Holy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Butch Holder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday beginning at noon.
