WALNUT COVE — The East Surry girls varsity basketball team was victorious on the road by a score of 51-32 on Friday against the South Stokes Sauras.
Head Coach Keith Gunter said the Cards got into an early lead after Gabi Jessup hit three three-pointers in the first half. He said Emma Slater and Laken Bowman did a good job in guarding Saura Hanna Wood and closed her out in scoring.
“I was pleased with that,” Gunter said.
Gunter said the Sauras only scored nine total in the first half.
Gabi Jessup was the leading scorer with 18 points and Keri Fulp had 13 points with 17 rebounds. Sydney Mosley scored 12, Emma Slater three, Lauren Thompson two, Kacie Markle two and Laken Bowman one.
