Friday’s icy weather caused area sports teams to scramble. Here is a rundown of local sporting events.

Three of the four local wrestling teams got a jump on the weather by going on Thursday. East Surry, North Surry and Surry Central already have completed their matches.

Mount Airy will travel to West Stokes on Monday. That will be the start of a busy week for the Granite Bears. They host a tri-match on Tuesday against North Stokes and Atkins. Then on Friday they host Surry Central.

For basketball, Mount Airy and West Stokes will face off here on Monday.

North Surry was set to host Surry Central, but those games will now take place on Monday, Feb. 4.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is a makeup date Monday at home with Bishop McGuinness, which was originally slated for last Friday, Jan. 18. The Eagles will have games on back-to-back days as they travel to West Stokes Tuesday.

Mount Airy also will have a busy week. After the Wildcats on Monday, the Bears take on North Stokes Tuesday and then go to Surry Central on Friday.

The Greyhounds next play Tuesday, hosting South Stokes.

East Surry has moved its games to Wednesday.

For the Cardinals, next week means they are at home Tuesday against Winston-Salem Prep, Wednesday home with North Stokes and Friday at South Stokes.
