BATEMAN

Mr. Danny Randall Bateman, 51, of Massey Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at his home. Mr. Bateman was born July 4, 1961, in Surry County, to Lonnie and Ruth Fulla Haynes Bateman. He was a self-employed car dealer. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Justin Smith of Dobson; a son, Josh Bateman and special friend, Terri Hull of Mount Airy; two “special” grandchildren, Kylie Bateman and Brody Bateman; his mother, Ruth Fulla Haynes Goins of Mount Airy; his father and stepmother, Lonnie and Nelia Bateman of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Craig Bateman and Cindy of Mount Airy and Lonnie Randy Bateman, Jr, and Carol of Charlotte; and two “special” nieces and three “special” nephews. Mr. Bateman was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Dillon; and his grandmother, Georgia “Mammy” Haynes. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Butch Holder, the Rev. Sam Holder, and Dr. David Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in The People’s Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of his father, Lonnie Bateman, 387 Massey Road, Mount Airy.
