BRANCH

MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Rosa Branch, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 22, 2013. Rosa was born May 13, 1914, to Thomas and Daisy Smart Johnson in Surry County. She was an active member of Blues Grove Baptist Church before her declining health and loved her church family with all her heart. In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Branch; two brothers, Lacy and Claude Johnson; two sisters, Allie Johnson Hall and Addie Johnson King; as well as four half sisters. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and James Marion and Susan and Jerry Burcham; and a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Brenda Branch. Rosa had six grandchildren, Tammy Perry, Julie Teague, Chad Hodges, Jennifer Stone, Lori Gray and Delane Branch, as well as nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Branch loved all her children, grandchildren and family more than life itself. She will be greatly missed by all her family and those who were a part of her life. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home and funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family would like to express its appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Tina Leonard and Rosa Dizon, for the wonderful care and love they have shown towards Mrs. Branch.
