PILOT MOUNTAIN — During the March 15 worship service at Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church, Ethelene Bunker (on Mabel Shelton’s behalf) presented Elizabeth Marion Jessup with a Certificate of Appreciation and a lapel pin from the Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436 Ladies Auxiliary in appreciation for donating 10 inches of hair on two occasions to Locks of Love.

The award was presented after a recommendation was made by Ladies Auxiliary member, Mabel Shelton.

She felt strongly that Elizabeth be recognized for her donations.

Sue S. Marion, Elizabeth’s grandmother, told the story of Elizabeth’s donations to the church congregation.

She explained how Locks of Love uses donated hair to make hairpieces for children under 18 years of age who have hair loss as a result of a medical condition.

The Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436 Ladies Auxiliary and Elizabeth encourage others to help with this great cause by donating hair to Locks of Love.

For additional information on how to donate hair, go to http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html, or contact a personal hairdresser.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Chet and Sharon Jessup of Pilot Mountain, granddaughter of Wilbur and Sue Marion of Shoals, and Wayne and Frances Jessup of Pilot Mountain.
