MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Della Irene Williams Free, 99, of 116 W. Oakdale St., Mount Airy, made the transition to Heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. Mrs. Free was born in Colquitt County, Ga., on Nov. 9, 1913, to Joseph Andrew and Nannie Belle Cochran Williams. She was retired from Belk/Hudson and was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Betty Free of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Free was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edgar Free; and sons, Karl E. Free and James H. “Hal” Free. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
