WALKERTOWN — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots boys varsity team defeated Gospel Light on the road Monday night with a score of 47-42.

Paced by senior Nate Gerber’s 20 points and 15 rebounds and junior Nathaniel Goodman’s 16 points and 15 rebounds, the Patriots dominated the Lions on the boards.

Senior Chad Brantley also pulled down 13 rebounds.

“This was a great team win,” said Patriots Head Coach Todd Gerber. “Even though they made a run in the fourth quarter, we held on because of excellent free throw shooting. Our bench gave us good quality minutes, especially when we experienced some foul trouble in the fourth quarter.”

The victory runs the Patriots’ regular season record to 6-2 after tough losses last week on the road. Greensboro Home Educators topped the Patriots, who were again plagued by foul trouble, by a score of 37-36. On Thursday night, the Patriots lost to the Durham Home Educators, 62-56.

Score by Quarters

Surry 14, 10, 9, 14,

Gospel Light 10, 6, 7, 19.
