Surry County’s Habitat for Humanity group is inviting the public to a Christmas party featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus on Dec. 8 at the Habitat ReStore located at 813 Merita Street in Mount Airy.

The party is scheduled to be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Information supplied by Habitat Financial Director Sheree Russo encourages participants to bring their own cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa and Mrs. Claus free. The North Pole’s number one couple is scheduled to be at the store from 11-2 on Dec. 8.

A Santa Lucia Swedish Christmas event is set from 1 p.m. with live Christmas caroling at 2:30 p.m. and Christmas stories with Christmas cookies will be held at 3 p.m. The tradition of honoring “Saint Lucy” in Sweden often involves a young woman dressed in white with a crown of candles who leads a procession in the home. Lucia is often associated with sweets and baked goods.
