To all the local merchants who decorated their shops for Halloween and passed out candy Wednesday to local trick-or-treaters. This is no small undertaking, with such work requiring at least one person to devote a couple of hours on the clock to taking on the task of greeting Halloween guests, not to mention the expense of the candy and other goodies given out. They did it simply to offer a little fun to local kids, and we hope local families will remember those businesses who participated when it comes time for holiday shopping.

To all of the volunteers who will be helping at the local election polls on Tuesday. Smoothly run elections are carried out only through the efforts, which includes hours and hours of training, by dozens of volunteers around the county who put in one very long day.
