KERNERSVILLE — East Surry swept Bishop McGuinness 3-0 in the regular season finale Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals won the three sets 25-19, 25-14 and 25-20.

“I thought this was one of the best games our defense has played,” said Coach Caleb Gilley. “We moved to the ball very quickly, and our passing in general was very good.”

Sydney Mosley led the defense with 23 digs, and Laken Bowman added 11.

Setter Olivia Sheets had eight digs to go along with 25 assists and four kills.

Keri Fulp led the offense with 15 kills and three aces as well as five blocks.

Kacie Markle provided five kills and three blocks. Ashley Smith added four kills and two blocks, and Gabi Jessup four kills and three blocks.

“I thought offensively we could have been much better,” Gilley said. The front line had some hitting errors, but the defense was stellar.

East Surry (12-4) is firmly in third place in the conference, just one game behind Surry Central. It will face the sixth seed in the Northwest Conference Tournament next week. That will be either Bishop or Mount Airy.
