Mrs. Ethel Louise Slate, 75, of Mount Airy passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at her home. She was born in Carroll County on May 17, 1937 to the late Tom and Nancy Dean Gwyn. Mrs. Slate is survived by her husband, Johnny Slate of the home; a daughter, Toni Slate Mitchell of Mount Airy; a son, Donald Ray Robinson of Mount Airy; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Audene Slate and Julie Hicks both of Mount Airy; brothers, Larry Gwyn of Mount Airy, and Dennis Gwyn of Fancy Gap, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slate was preceded in death by sisters, Lorraine Galyean, Ila Hall and Rosie Johnson; brothers, Harvey and Richard Gwyn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
