WALNUT COVE — East Surry and South Stokes battled closely for three quarters until the Sauras broke out for a 32-3 win.
The Sauras led 6-3 after one quarter and were up 12-3 going into the fourth quarter. Jacquan Martin rushed for two touchdowns, but the point-afters were no good.
Ethan Atkins gave the Cards their points with a chip shot 19-yard field goal.
Then the home team put up 20 points to blow the game open. According to information from South Stokes, two of the scores came on returns by the defense.
East Surry was traveling back from Walnut Cove, so stats were not available at press time.
