Mount Airy celebrated its four seniors with a 9-0 sweep of South Stokes Thursday.

The girls all had a hand in the win, which clinched a perfect 14-0 Northwest Conference schedule.

Jordan Jackson and Jade Hughes won all 24 of their singles games, then Elizabeth Dinkins and Blair Holcomb shined in doubles play.

Jackson wanted to play despite an ailing left wrist. She made short work of Gina Rutledge 6-0, 6-0, then sat out doubles play.

Davi Barbour defeated Jenny Glidewell 6-0, 6-1 in the second match.

Jade Hughes swept Taylor Evans 6-0, 6-0.

Haley Thomas beat Julie Linville 6-0, 6-2. Bree Hughes won 6-0, 6-0 over Kristen Denny. And Carley VanHoy won 6-0, 6-0 over Kaitlyn Denny.

In doubles play, Barbour and Thomas won 8-1 over Rutledge and Glidewell.

Jade Hughes and Dinkins were a perfect 8-0 over Evans and Linville.

Bree Hughes and Holcomb won 8-1 over the Denny sisters.

Mount Airy improved to 17-2 overall.

The Bears will host the 1A conference tournament at the high school next Tuesday and Wednesday. Mount Airy Middle School will host the 2A conference tournament on Tuesday.

If time allows, the 2A side will finish all its matches that night. If not, the 2A players will hold their finals on Wednesday at the high school.
