PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Myrtle Mae Johnson Crump, 78, of Pilot Mountain, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 25, 1934, in Surry County to the late Jack Anderson Johnson and Elizabeth Venable Johnson. Myrtle retired from Spencer’s of Mount Airy. After retiring, she ran Nannie’s Daycare where every child was very special to her. Myrtle was a member of First Church of The Brethren in Mount Airy and was active in the VFW Post #9436 Ladies Auxiliary as long as health permitted. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James Richard Crump Sr. of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Wade Bowman of Ararat, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dickie and Jane Crump of Pilot Mountain and Jack and Cindy Crump of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Jack Crump Jr., Whitney Crump-Bennett and husband Ryan, Tiffany Crump-Gunter and husband Jamie and Bryan Wade Bowman; great-grandchildren, Joshua Crump, Brooklyn Crump, Lacey Crump and Emma Gunter; sister, Viola Anderson of Mount Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey “Sam” Johnson and wife Mozelle of King; sister-in-law, Vernie Johnson of Pilot Mountain; brother-in-law, Tommy and wife Barbara Crump of Yorba Linda, Calif.; special nephew, Bill Fletcher of East Bend; special neighbor and friend, Delores Ann Cox; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her sister, Stella Fletcher; brothers, Roy and Robert Johnson; and two infant brothers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
