LOWGAP — Mr. Jerry Edward Lundy, 67, of Lowgap, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at his home after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Grayson County, Va., on Nov. 11, 1944, to the late Gwyn W. and Etta York Lundy. Mr. Lundy was retired from Currier-Withers Supply Company. Mr. Lundy served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Kevin Draughn of Lowgap; a granddaughter, Zoe Draughn; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Sam Hodges of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Georgia Lundy of Mount Airy and Kyle and Debbie Lundy of Flint, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Margaret Cockerham and Brandon Wilmoth. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lundy was preceded in death by a niece, Kim Reynolds. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Spurlin and the Rev. Tony Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Lundy Family Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
