Ghosts, goblins and ghouls of the two- and four-legged varieties are expected to converge on Round Peak Vineyards Saturday for the third Howl-O-Wine celebration.

The event is scheduled to get under way at 4 p.m. at the vineyard, located at 765 Round Peak Church Road just west of Mount Airy, off N.C. 89.

Howl-O-Wine is an annual event that is held at the vineyard, to benefit Mayberry4Paws, a local organization that promotes the spaying and neutering of pets.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds goes to Mayberry4Paws,” said vineyard co-owner Kari Heerdt.

Dogs are welcome at the vineyard and will be allowed free admission if they attend with their human.

Admission to this year’s celebration is $10, with children 12 and younger admitted free.

And this year’s lineup features something for everyone.

From 4 to 6:30 p.m., guests can enjoy music from the Round Peak Ramblers.

At 5 p.m., the vineyard will host a Corn Hole Tournament. Registration for the tournament is $10, with half the proceeds going to the winner and the other half benefiting Mayberry4Paws.

From 5 to 7 p.m., visitors to the vineyard can enjoy carriage rides throughout the picturesque landscape.

A bonfire will be burning from 6 to 10 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., judging will begin on a costume contest, with the winners announced shortly after judging.

The Soul Shine Band, a contemporary country band, will entertain the crowd from 7 to 10 p.m.

And just in case the scary costumes don’t give visitors a fright, ghost stories will be told around the bonfire from 8 to 10 p.m.

Food, beer, wine, soft drinks and s’mores will be available for purchase.

Anyone attending this year’s Howl-O-Wine should be on the lookout for the Headless Horseman, who just might make an appearance during the benefit celebration, organizers said.
