Sales totaled 726 head, including cattle (639), goats (79), sheep (6) and hogs (2), during Tuesday’s sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
• Slaughter cows: utility and commercial, $74-$78.50; cutter and boning, $66.50-$80; canner and low cutter, $44-$68.
• Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $82-$96.50; 1,500 pounds and up, $91.50-$97.50.
• Stock cows: 875-1,050 pounds, (S1) $825-$1,125.
• Cow/calf pairs: too few.
• Baby calves: $45-$55.
• Feeder steers and bulls: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $141-$165; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $124-$153, (small frame) $100-$127, (Holsteins) $78-$108; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $121-$145, (small frame) $93.50-$118, (Holsteins) $91.50-$103; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $113-$134.50, (small frame) $95-$105; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $99-$130.50, (small frame) $87-$94.
