MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Randall Cosby “Sonny” Cockerham, 66, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Cockerham was born in Surry County on Sept. 16, 1946, to Daniel Cosby and Betty Atkins Cockerham. He was retired from Bassett Furniture. Surviving are his wife, Judy Galyean Cockerham of the home; a daughter, Tammy Adame and special friend, Fernando Ramirez, of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Jennifer Cockerham also of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Adriana “Ollie” Adame and special friend Jose Reyes, Josh Adame, Shawn Parker and Kelsey “Sweet Pea” Cockerham; great-grandchildren, Jordin Reyes and Caydin “Peanut” Reyes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Henry Edwards of Pilot Mountain, Delta Puckett and Mary Ann and Joe Hull, all of Mount Airy; a brother, Ricky Cockerham and special friend, Paula Driver, of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cockerham was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Dean Cockerham; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Closer Walk Baptist Church by the Rev. Doug Cockerham, the Rev. Rickey Martin and the Rev. Nelson Parker. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. also at the church.
