Lady Hounds beat Bishop, prepare for Cards

KERNERSVILLE — North Surry kept its unbeaten record alive heading into tonight’s match with East Surry with a 3-0 sweep of Bishop McGuinness.

The Lady Greyhounds are once again atop the Northwest volleyball standings with a 7-0 mark (12-0 overall). East Surry also is undefeated in conference play, 6-0 and 9-2 overall.

The Hounds have won all 21 sets in conference play, while the Cardinals are 21-1 with Surry Central getting the only set against them.

North Surry topped the Lady Villains 25-18, 25-13 and 25-21.

Kristina Rumplasch and Taylor Hill led the attack with 13 kills each, while Molly Martin added eight.

Bailey Culler set up the swings with 42 assists and also went 13-14 at the service line with four aces.

Martin and Maddison Hawks topped the team with six digs each. Hawks also went 14-17 serving with four aces.

Erin March was the leader in blocks with four, while Hill added three.

After today’s match, the Hounds have a tri-match planned for this Saturday against both Starmount and McMichael.

Last year, the Hounds went to a fifth set in both matchups, losing to McMichael and besting the Rams.
