WESTFIELD — Mrs. Betty Jean Nelson Mason Lewis, 68, of Westfield, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born July 7, 1944, in Chesterfield County, Va., to the late Eugene C. Nelson Sr. and Myra Bobbitt Nelson. Mrs. Lewis retired from the U.S. Department of Defense and was a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by her three brothers and their families, Eugene C. Nelson Jr., James R. Nelson and Benjamin G. Nelson; and her faithful Christian Sister, Darrell Ann Belcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Lewis. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Brown Mountain Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Eddie Carter with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brown Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Libba Francis, 9352 N.C. 89 West, Westfield, NC 27053; Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or to charity of the donor’s choice.
