Mrs. Christine Mayes Pike, age 84, of Mocksville, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on April 2, 1928 in Surry County to the late Ed and Lela Mayes. Mrs. Pike was a homemaker and a member of Blackwater Community Church. Mrs. Pike is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Fred Key, Jr. of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Karen Key Crews, Sherry Key Duncan both of Mocksville; two great-grandchildren, Katlynn Howell, Colin Duncan; three sisters, Peggy Holyfield of Dobson, Jestine Eads of Village Care of King, and Reynolda Newman of Elkin. Mrs. Pike was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Taylor Pike; her parents; brothers, Ellis Mayes and Lester Mayes; sisters, Annie Wall and Kathleen Brown. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Pine Hill Friends Church with Bro. Don Collins, Bro. Jerry Pardue, and Bro. Darrell Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Friends Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and immediately following the funeral service on Saturday at the home of Al and Jackie March, 435 Quaker Church Road Siloam, NC 27047. Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to Davie County Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 377 Hospital Street Suite 103 Mocksville, NC 27028. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the physicians and nursing staff of Forsyth Medical Center.
