Labor Day will affect Mount Airy’s sanitation operations, including cases where residents are planning some work around their homes during the holiday weekend.
No yard waste collections will occur on Monday, according to city Sanitation Supervisor Delmas Overby. The next pickup of those items isn’t planned until a week later, on Sept. 10.
The Monday industrial roll-off route also will be delayed until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the holiday is bringing no change in Monday’s commercial garbage routes, which will operate under the regular schedule.
Municipal offices will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday and are to reopen Tuesday morning.
