The Mount Airy News will be sponsoring a blood drive on Monday from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the American Red Cross office at 844 Westlake Drive.
Summer is a particularly acute time for blood needs. During the summer months, the demand for blood often remains constant or spikes, while blood donations often go down. Vacations and schools being out of session are the chief reasons blood donations often drop in the summer.
This is an excellent opportunity for folks to give blood, either as a regular habit of donating, or as a first-time donor.
