Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Holyfield and Burrell Jasper “Tripp” Williamson III, both of Clinton, were married on May 11 at Caneel Bay in Turtle Point, St. John, Virgin Islands. Pastor Carlye Sampson performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Paul and Beth Holyfield of Martinsville, Va. She is the granddaughter of Madeline Brooks of Winston-Salem and the late Charles W. Brooks Sr., and Anne B. Holyfield of Mount Airy and the late Raleigh G. Holyfield.
The bridegroom is the son of Connie and Burrell J. Williamson Jr. of Clinton. He is the grandson of the late Elma and Burrell J. Williamson Sr., and the late James and Rachel Barefoot.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a strapless gown of tiered Alencon lace panels and a satin bow. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and pink peonies.
Brittany Minter of Richmond, Va., was the maid of honor, and sister of the bride Brooke Grant of Holly Springs was the matron of honor. They wore aqua blue strapless jacquard dresses with gold braid and carried bouquets of pink peonies and white roses.
Bridesmaids were Jacquelyn Cole of Chapel Hill; Ashley Cox of Hoboken, N.J.; Rachel Foy of Arlington, Va.; and Kerri Sawyer of Columbia, Md. Their dresses matched those of the maid and matron of honor and they carried bouquets of pink peonies.
Ava Grant, niece of the bride and daughter of Brooke and Logan Grant of Holly Springs, was the flower girl.
The father of the bridegroom was the best man.
Groomsmen were brother of the bridegroom Tyson Williamson and Tyner Tew of Raleigh; Reid Butler and Stephen Horne of Clinton; Michael Jennings of Wilmington; and Clint Spell of Charlotte.
Hudson Grant, nephew of the bride and son of Brooke and Logan Grant, was the ring bearer.
Chris Robbert of St. John played the violin.
A reception was held at Turtle Bay Estate House at Caneel Bay.
The couple took a honeymoon in Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She is a development specialist for PA Foundation of American Academy of Physician Assistants.
The bridegroom is a 2002 graduate of Clinton High School and a 2006 graduate of N.C. State University in Raleigh with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business. He is president of Williamson LP Gas Inc. in Clinton.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: A Christmas bridal shower was held at Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, hosted by Brooke Grant and Brittany Minter; and a bridal shower at Ashford Inn in Clinton, hosted by Lindsay Horne, Anna Bell and Annette Starling.
A marriage celebration party hosted by Pam and Greg Griffin at Coharie Country Club in Clinton was held on June 9, and on June 10 at Ashford Inn, a marriage celebration brunch was hosted by Bonnie and Len Barrow, Diane and Jeb Bassett, Sherry and Ry Brooks, Mary Kate and Len Dillon and Chris and Bill Utley.
