PILOT MOUNTAIN — During the regular monthly meeting of the Pilot Mountain Board of Commissioners on Monday at 7 p.m., the board will discuss the closure of Simmons Street.

According to Town Manager Homer Dearmin, part of the road was never paved. The board will consider closing it since the town will never need that as a street, Dearmin said.

The winning bidder for Phase II of the Pilot Center, as recommended by the project’s architects, will be presented to the board for its consideration.

Phase II of the Pilot Center includes two classrooms and a multi-purpose room for the distance learning at Surry Community College. It will encompass 15,000 square feet inside the center.

During the meeting, the board will hear from the town’s departments.

Dearmin will then give the town manager’s report and the finance report.

The board will then go into a closed session regarding personnel and legal matters.

After the closed session, the board will talk about various topics concerning the mayor and commissioners, then adjourn.

The board meets in the lower level of town hall.

For more information about the meeting, call town hall at 368-2248.
