KANNAPOLIS — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots used a 55-34 victory against Cabarrus Friday night to secure the North Carolina Home Educators Athletic Conference regular season championship.

Surry was led by Molly Hamilton’s 18 points and five assists, Suzie Santucci’s 10 points and three steals, Sally Ann Edwards’ eight rebounds, Hannah Tompkins’ four assists, Rebekah Sikes’ six rebounds and four assists and Becca Tompkins’ 13 rebounds.

“This victory gave us the title of conference champs,” Surry Runnin’ Patriots girls basketball coach Glenn Edwards said. “We are 7-0 in the conference.”

The victory improved the Runnin’ Patriots’ overall record to 23-1.

“Molly Hamilton did a great job taking the leadership of the team,” Edwards said. “She did a good job of finding holes in the defense, creating great shots for herself and others, and leading the team with points and assists.”

Surry hosts Davidson Home Educators Thursday at the Fountain of Life Center.
