ARARAT, Va. — Rolling Thunder Raceway reopens next weekend for its summer race season.

The 3/8th-mile dirt track will feature Friday night racing all summer. The number of drivers can vary from 40-some to more than 70, according to organizers.

The track holds six different categories of racing: crates, limited sportsman, mini stock, UCAR, wing mini cars and renegades.

For those wanting to race, the pit fee is $20. Admission for fans is $10.

The track has bleachers, but many people bring blankets and/or lawn chairs, according to management. There are full-facility restrooms and concessions on-site.

The gates open Friday at 5 p.m. with races starting at 7 p.m.
