MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Mr. Herman Junior “Pete” Puckett, 57, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson Sunday, March 18, 2012. Mr. Puckett was born in Patrick County, Va., on Feb. 28, 1955, to Georgia Collins Puckett and the late Herman Puckett. He graduated from Patrick County High School in 1973 and received an A.A.S. in electronics from Surry Community in 1983 and then moved to South Carolina and worked until he retired in 2000. After retirement, he became a licensed real estate agent and continued managing the properties he owned as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed life and lived life to its fullest. Mr. Puckett is survived by his mother, Georgia Collins Puckett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Dennis Patterson of Mount Airy, Linda Puckett of Ararat, Va., and Gaynell and Donald Thomas of Mount Airy; brother, Tommy Puckett of Ararat, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Bethany Shepherd, Misti Mauldin, Amy Lawson, Shannon Haynes, Casey Thomas and Donna Thomas. In addition to his father, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by a brother, Taylor Puckett. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Doe Run Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Vaughan with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Doe Run Baptist Church on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of his sister, Betty Patterson, 161 Badgett Ave., Mount Airy, NC 27030. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, 845 Third Ave., 6th Floor, New York, NY 10022, or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
