To the Editor,

Here I sit on my day off in rememberance of Martin Luthter King. Tomorrow is inauguration day. It’s a time I should be able to rejoice and celebrate. Martin Luther King was so inspiring for so many, and in my opinion, rightly so. Then comes tomorrow, the swearing in of our first African American president. What a wonderful time in American history this should be for everyone. Not for me! Would it be for Martin Luther King, in my opinion, NO. Not because of Obama’s race, but for what he stands for and the number of Christians who are compromising the teachings of the Bible. For what? The economy? Unity? The symbol of how far African Americans have progressed? Separation of church and state? The separation of church and state was to not force anyone to adhere to any one particular religion. We are, were, supposed to be, a Christian nation. It was founded on Christian principals and not meant to change. People don’t have to be a Christian to live here and have the same rights as Christians. We shouldn’t change our nation to no longer keep our rules and principals under Christian doctrine. If those who disagree with our beliefs, so be it, but that shouldn’t change what our founders meant us to be. If someone has different beliefs, don’t force our beliefs on them, but if they live in a Christian nation, not expect the nation to change our government and principals to accept what isn’t Biblically moral. Let’s not compromise what the Word of God tells us.

What bothers me the most about the state of the church is it has been descecrated. Yes, I said descecrated.Turning their heads on abortion (if not doing it themselves), homosexuality, coming together with other religions for the sake of unity. What’s wrong with coming together for the sake of unity, nothing, if you keep to the Word of God. (look up the ecumenical movement) Don’t leave out Jesus for the sake of peace. Be loving and kind and accepting of others, but also be strong in your faith and speak up for what’s right when the need arises. Yes, Jesus wants peace, but He also says if you be ashamed of me in front of others, I will be ashamed of you in front of my Father. He never denied the Word to his death. Peace and unity can’t always be accomplished for Christians. Sunday school teachers, elders of the Church, pastors, bishops, and lifelong church goers, falling to the ways of the world and justifiying it. What is being taught and accepted here? Lies! Just blatant lies because it’s easier and more pleasing to the flesh.

Come on Christians. I know there’s got to be some of you out there that feel the same way as I do. Where are you? We’re not in the news, we’re not on the internet, we’re not in magazines and newspapers that I can find, unless I do a major search. Some Christian publications and other media outlets compromise. I don’t know how to change the tide, I’m just one person, but this is my start.
