A man wanted in connection with the alleged production of crystal methamphetamine in Mount Airy was caught Thursday in West Virginia.

Local authorities also have announced charges against two other people linked to the case.

A warrant had been filed Wednesday against Michael Shane Blaylock after city officers and a special-response team from the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered evidence of meth production at a home at 1120 Granite Road. Included were equipment and substances involved in the process. Blaylock is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

About a dozen neighbors of that address were evacuated from their homes Tuesday night after police learned of the operation. They were allowed to return Wednesday.

After the suspect home was processed Wednesday, Det. J.A. Freeman reported that Blaylock, whose age and address have not been released, did not reside at the home but had been staying there recently.

Warrants also were issued for Phyllis Craft Pardue of 1120 Granite Road charging her with accessory after the fact in manufacturing methamphetamine, maintaining a drug dwelling, trafficking by possession of an opium-based controlled substance and maintaining a drug dwelling.

Additionally, warrants were issued for the arrest of Robert McNeil Pardue charging him with accessory after the fact in manufacturing methamphetamine.

Freeman said Wednesday night that Blaylock’s whereabouts were unknown and authorities were seeking tips in an effort to locate him.

When he was apprehended Thursday night in McDowell County, W.Va., Blaylock also allegedly was found in possession of a firearm. In addition to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, McDowell authorities say other violations could be forthcoming pending the completion of their investigation.

Blaylock’s parents also were charged with harboring a fugitive, Mount Airy Police Chief Roger McCreary said.

The local investigation surrounding the clandestine meth lab also is continuing and is expected to yield further charges, police say.

Additional details were unavailable Friday.
