- A break-in of a motor vehicle Wednesday netted the theft of items valued at $85, according to the Mount Airy Police Department. Kelly Hundley Payne of South Main Street reported that sunglasses, a digital dart board and a jacket were among the items taken from the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier while it was parked at Globe Tobacco Apartments. The case is listed as inactive, with no leads to pursue at this time.

- On Tuesday, silk flowers valued at $75 were reported stolen from Oakdale Cemetery. Alma Goodman Strickland of Cana, Va., who is listed as the victim in the incident, told police that two bunches of flowers were removed sometime between Dec. 30 and Tuesday. The case remains open for further investigation.
