This Saturday there will be a reduced cost rabies clinic and bake sale at Southern States from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The clinic is being sponsored by Surry Animal Rescue. Rabies shots will be $9 and parvo and distempter shots will be available as well.

Normally the shot are around $13, according to Linda Mooney with Surry Animal Rescue. She will have pictures of animals that are up for adoption at the clinic.

“Information about our animals will be available and a veterinarian be on hand to answer questions about pets. We are having the clinic because this is a new mobile vet. We want to introduce him to the area. This is also for people who didn’t get to the other rabies clinics and it’s also a fundraiser for rescued animals taken in this time of year. This is our Christmas gift for the forever giving (pets),” Mooney.

She said Surry Animal Rescue is also trying to help people who don’t have the means to keep their outdoor pets warm during the winter.

“We are also helping by providing dog houses and cedar shavings. If anyone is in need, please come and give us your name and address. We want to be a service to the community and family pets,” said Mooney.

During the clinic raffle tickets will be sold for $1. The winner will receive a Christmas present for their pet.

Mooney said that if anyone would like to make a donation for Surry Animal Rescue rescue for the holiday, it would be much appreciated.

“We really need financial help. If someone has a dog house that they don’t want, they can donate it to us and we will give it to someone in need,” said Mooney.

Southern States is located at 202 Snowhill Drive.
