MOUNT AIRY — Mr. James Rolland Jones Sr., 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center. Mr. Jones was born in Surry County Aug. 11, 1937, to Elmer and Beulah Felts Jones. He retired from the United States Army after serving our country during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his loving wife, Martha M. Jones of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Darren Willard of Mount Airy and Frankie and Dayton Worrell of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, James Jones Jr. and wife Candy of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Jamie Jones, Amber Jones, James Jones, Tony Willard, Shane East and Kelly East; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Darrell Oakley and Delores and J.D. Belton, all of Mount Airy; and two brothers, Kenneth Jones and Bobby Jones, both of Mount Airy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dink Haynes. Burial will be at White Plains Friends Church Cemetery on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at 9 a.m. with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.
