HILLSVILLE, Va. — The 44th annual Hillsville VFW Gun Show & Flea Market is here.
VFW Post 1115 Commander Donald Trausneck said early indications are attendance at this year’s show will be consistent, if not a little better, than crowds from recent years.
“I think things are going really good,” Trausneck said. “It seems to me we have a bigger crowd than usual.”
Trausneck said the work done by VFW members and volunteers can’t be forgotten once the gates open and buyers and sellers by the thousand hit the streets and lots throughout town.
“I’m proud of the effort of all the volunteers getting out there and helping the crowds. Everybody knew what had to be done and they did it.”
Trausneck said the weather forecast looks favorable through the weekend for the flea market. He said Saturday was expected to be a hot day, but Sunday and Monday’s forecasts call for milder temperatures.
The VFW Gun Show & Flea Market has held annually in Hillsville since 1967.
