DOBSON — Mrs. Myrtle Jane Bledsoe Carroll, 86, of 1058 Copeland School Road, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at her home. She was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Surry County to the late Richard Henderson and Martha Edmonds Bledsoe. Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker and a member of New Home Church of Christ in Dobson where she was a pianist for over 70 years. Survivors include her husband, O.G. “Pete” Carroll of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and wife Connie Carroll of Jamestown; grandchildren, Bruce Carroll and fiancée Sarah Bruner of Jamestown and Kelli Jane Carroll of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Jane Sizemore of King; and brother-in-law, Robert Carroll of Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by sisters, Alma Bledsoe, Treva Stanley and Mallie Simpson; and brothers, Clyde Bledsoe, Otis Bledsoe, Paul Bledsoe and Lonnie Bledsoe. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at New Home Church of Christ conducted by Brother Tim Smith, Brother Carl Boles and the Rev. Steve Haines with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Carroll will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain.
