DOBSON — On Monday night, the Surry County Commissioners will hear from a number of different officials including Doug Jones, a Surry County Fire Marshal, who will give an updates on fire district transfers.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Surry County Government Center. An open forum will be held at the beginning of the semi-monthly meeting.
Elkin City schools superintendent Randy Bledsoe will present Phase II of an Elkin High School project at 6:30 p.m.
Flowers and Friends of Surry Garden Club will address the board at 6:45 p.m. concerning plantings at the municipal parking lot in Dobson.
Jack Gardin, the county’s Water and Sewer projects coordinator will present a Rural Center grant application to the board and will discuss the award of bids for construction of a water line to Tobe Hudson, Oak Grove Church Road intersection.
At 7 p.m., the board will recognize Jim Harrell III and Eagle Scouts.
Following a 15-minute break, Adam McComb, Surry County Park and Recreation director will give the board an update on the 2008-09 Recreation Incentive Grants and the Adopt-A-Trail grant.
Chris Knopf, assistant county manager for Economic Development and Tourism will discuss a tourism-based incentive grant with the board.
At 8 p.m., County Manager Dennis Thompson will discuss general county business.
