Mount Airy High School head volleyball coach Chuck Morris stated Tuesday that there are still some spots remaining for campers at the Granite City Volleyball Club’s annual youth volleyball camp slated to begin next week.
The camp, which is coordinated by Morris with Lady Bear volleyball alumni and current players as guest instructors, will be held daily from July 18-21 at the Reeves Community center. The camp is open to all girls ages nine and up.
The camp will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day at the RCC gym. The camp staff will encourage and teach campers fundamental volleyball skills while strengthening the skills they currently possess. There will be daily competitions, team play and individual instruction at the camp.
Morris is in his fourth year as head coach of the Lady Bears and has coached USA Juniors Club Ball for over 30 years. He is also a NCAA, USAV and NCHSAA referee. Last fall, he coached Mount Airy to the Northwest 1A Conference championship, the school’s first in many years, and the Lady Bears subsequently advanced to the third round of the state playoffs.
The cost of the camp is $40 for city residents and $50 for other campers. If readers have any questions about the camp, Coach Morris is available to contact at (336) 215-8854 and by email firstname.lastname@example.org. Brochures are available at the Reeves Community Center.
