Mount Airy High School will host its 13th youth volleyball camp this summer from July 13-15. The camp is open to all girls from rising 5th graders to rising 9th graders and will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day.
The camp will be coordinated by Mount Airy head coach Chuck Morris and assistant coach Amy Balthis, in addition to Lady Bear volleyball alumni and current players. The camp staff will encourage and teach campers fundamental volleyball skills while strengthening the skills they currently possess. There will be daily competitions, team play and individual instruction at the camp.
Morris is in his fourth year as head coach of the Lady Bears and has coached USA Juniors Club Ball for over 30 years. He is also a NCAA, USAV and NCHSAA referee. Balthis is in her seventh year as the junior varsity coach at Mount Airy and has coached a local Junior Olympics volleyball team for the past six years.
The cost of the camp is $50 and campers will receive a t-shirt if paid by July 1. After that date, the price goes up to $60. If readers have any questions about the camp, Coach Morris is available to contact at 336-215-8854 and by email firstname.lastname@example.org. Brochures will be available at Mount Airy High School, Mount Airy Middle School, Jones Intermediate School and Reeves Community Center.
