Lady Bears golf wins 2nd straight

WALNUT COVE — The Mount Airy girls’ golf team won its second straight match on Tuesday with a score of 147 at Hemlock Golf Course.

Freshman Alyssa Cox once again led the Lady Bears as match medalist, but this time she had to share that title with a teammate.

Senior Haley Hagwood and Cox each shot a 45 to pace Mount Airy. Bailey Flippen followed them with a 57 to help Mount Airy clinch the win.

East Surry finished in second place with a final line of 164. The Cardinals were led by Madison Bowman and Jamie Smith who tied for fourth place with a 53.

Kinley Jessup recorded a 58 for East Surry as the Cardinals held off North Stokes by two strokes.

The next conference match for the two schools will be on Tuesday at the Salem Lake Golf Course in Winston-Salem.
