Youth sports camps and other events continue this week, with Mount Airy Middle School’s annual football camp and a car wash fundraiser for Mount Airy Bears Youth Football and Cheerleading scheduled between now and July 10.
The car wash is scheduled for Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Advance Auto on Highway 601. This event will help support Bear youth football and cheerleading programs and ensure that every child who wishes to take part can have the opportunity. The cost of maintaining a youth football program is very high, and not all children or their families could afford to take part in the program without fundraisers. The events help reduce the cost for everyone involved.
Participants are asked to bring backed goods and/or water to sell during the event. Those who would like to participate can contact Kim Jones at (336) 712-6881 or visit the Facebook page for Mount Airy Bears Youth Football and Cheer.
The MAMS Football Camp is open to all rising third- through eighth-graders and is scheduled to take place each day from July 10-12 at the Mount Airy Middle School football field. The cost of the camp is $45, including camp instruction and a t-shirt.
Instructors will include MAMS head football coach Danny Gallimore, his coaching staff, and several Mount Airy High School vasrity football players.
Those wanting to play should bring a t-shirt, shorts, cleats and shoes. Check-in begins at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
Anyone interested must sign a waiver of liability. For more information, call 336-789-9021 or email Gallimore at email@example.com.
