Spring and summer drills are already under way at North Surry High School, and anyone in the area who thinks they might want to play high school football someday will have a chance to work out with them on July 27 through 29.
Current and former Greyhounds players, along with the football coaching staffs at North Surry High School and Gentry and Meadowview middle schools, will be hosting a football camp at NSHS from 9 to 11 a.m. each morning. The camp is open to all rising second- through eighth-graders, and the cost is $20 per camper.
“We’ll be working on running, passing, blocking and tackling, really all skill sets,” said North Surry head football coach Danny Lyons. “We’ll set up stations where kids of all skill levels and work and learn the game. There will be a skills competition in the second hour of the day for the younger kids.”
Free water and Gatorade will be provided for all campers throughout the three-day session, and everyone will receive a t-shirt at the end of the camp.
To register for the camp, simply come between 8 and 9 a.m. on July 27 and pay the registration fee.
