WINSTON-SALEM — The kids may get the summer off, but the pool at the Armfield Civic Center never does.

On Saturday, July 15, the Armfield Civic Center Dolphins swim team finished its 2017 summer season at Winston-Salem State University with a fourth place team finish at the Tri-County Swim Conference Meet.

The Dolphins are coached by Jillian Kowalcik and Ashley Livengood. The team had 35 swimmers participate in the day-long event and several of those swimmers captured overall point medals. Bryce Faistl place first overall, Ellie Anderson second and Emilynn Haymore third for the 6-and-under age group. Kennedy Cook placed third for the 7 and 8 year-old girls and Jack Hardy placed sixth for the 7 and 8 year-old boys.

Jackson Graves won first place for the 9 and 10 year-old boys. Claire Hull was second and Ilihanie Caro was third for the 9 and 10 year-old girls. For the 11 and 12 year-old girls Haley Joyce won third and Lydia Hough placed sixth.

Cassidy Hull was third place for the 13 and 14 year-old girls. For the 15-18 year-olds, Sara Collins took third place for the ladies. Nolan Gilliam won third place and Jakwon Thompson was fourth and Alex Butner took fifth place for the men.

The Dolphins also had several relay teams place in the top three. The 6-and-under team won second place in the Freestyle relay; Bryce Faistl, Ellie Anderson, Smith Cook and Emilynn Haymore. The girls 7-8 year freestyle relay team finished third; Kennedy Cook, Sophia Utt, Sailor Johnson and Chloe Brantley. The medley team finished fifth which consisted of Cook, Johnson, Brantley and Ashlyn Comer.

The 9 and 10 year-old girls team captured second place in the freestyle relay and the medley relay. The team members were Claire Hull, Ilihanie Caro, Emory Anderson and Cierra Soriano. The boys team placed fourth in the medley race and sixth in freestyle. Team members were Jackson Graves, Jace Mosley, Carter Utt and Andrew Johnson.

The 11 and 12 year-old girls team also placed second the medley relay and third in their freestyle relay race. The team members were Haley Joyce, Lydia Hough, Baley Hawks and Abigail Caro.

For the 15-18 year-old teams, the ladies team of Sara Collins and Cassidy Hull finished third in the freestyle relay and fourth in the medley relay. For the men, the team finished second in both the freestyle and medley races. The team members were Nolan Gilliam, Jakwon Thompson and Alex Butner.

The ACC team was also awarded the sportsmanship trophy for the meet. The Chadwyck Flyers won the meet. The other teams are from Winston-Salem and Yadkin County.
