Knights golf get top 15 despite tough final SCOTTSBORO Ala. — The National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Golf Tournament wrapped up the final day Friday at Goose Pond Colony, and the Surry Community College Knights held a spot in the top finishers placing 15th.
Ryan Wilson was the Knights’ top medalist in the tournament, recording a 304. Andy Carowan was second, recording 310. Chris Joyce was third, recording 312.

North’s DeHart takes physical game to Averett North Surry’s Shawn DeHart has chosen Averett University to play football this fall.
DeHart is the second Greyhound to announce his college choice. Punter Austin Barker recently announced that he is attending Lenoir-Rhyne.

Surry Knights finish second round of golf nationals; start third SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — The Surry Community College men’s golf team finished 15th after the second round of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
The Knights scored 313, 11 strokes over Tuesday’s finish of 302. So far, the Knights combined score is 615.

Surry Storm teams win state hoops titles Two age groups of the Surry Storm AAU basketball teams have won state championships in the AYBA Tournament.
The fifth-grade and 11th-grade teams each won their brackets in Concord recently in the American Youth Basketball Association championship.
Some familiar high school names make up the 11th-grade Storm team. The team includes Mount Airy’s Mikayla Seivers, North Surry’s Malaya Johnson and East Surry’s Gabi Jessup and Sydney Mosley.
North Surry planning youth football camp North Surry is planning its fourth annual youth football camp for mid-July.
The Greyhounds camp will be July 15-17 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Shelton 10K continues to grow in third year DOBSON — Attendance continues to grow for the Shelton Vineyards Running of the Vines 10K race.

Smith’s coach, Caleb Gilley, said, “I am thrilled for her to get the chance to continue playing volleyball.”
