The Mount Airy Appearance Commission honored the State Employees Credit Union with its Most Improved Commercial Property Award. Arvid Simmons, a member of the commission, made the presentation to Lilnette Phillips, left, and Vicky Bruner, and commended the officials for improvements made to the additions and property located on South Franklin Road, Mount Airy. Renovations to the property included construction of a separate drive-through building with four drive-through lanes, adding additional work room and office along with converting an existing work room into an office and enlarging the break room. Renovations were completed by converting the walkup ATM to a drive-up ATM, paving the parking lot, refurbishing the street signs and landscaping with complementary plants and shrubs. The two staff members expressed their appreciation for being recognized, adding, “We truly appreciate the honor.”
